DNS (Domain Name Server)

DNS is short for Domain Name Server. It is how website names (ie: www.scratch.co.nz) are translated into numbers (ie: 69.72.153.250) that computers can understand. DNS can be troublesome if you are administrating your own server and is not something you should change without understanding what you are doing. I have been administrating DNS servers since the mid 90's, mostly with Bind (on Linux servers).

If you are in need of assistance with your DNS, I offer a service of setting up & administrating DNS. I charge NZ$60.00 per hour, with a minimum half hour charge.

I hope to set up a DNS forum here soon, but until then please email me for more information.
